UWED students visited the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan

On May 22 of the current year, lecturers of the Department of Political Science, S.V. Nasimov and N. Kushaeva, organized an off-site educational lesson at the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for third-year students of the Political Science program at the Faculty of International Relations of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. The lesson was held within the framework of the 15th topic of the syllabus of the course “Comparative Politics” — “The Political System of the Republic of Uzbekistan.”
During the lesson, students became acquainted with the activities of the country’s supreme legislative body, the main features of the parliamentary system, and the key stages of the law-making process. The meeting with deputies representing different political parties was of particular interest to the students and enabled them to gain a broader understanding of the practical aspects of parliamentary activity.
The event was held in the format of an open and constructive dialogue. During the meeting, issues related to parliamentary activity, the role of political parties in the country’s political system, the development and consideration of draft laws, and the mechanisms of political and legal decision-making were discussed. The deputies provided comprehensive and informative answers to the questions raised by the students.
As part of the off-site lesson, students also became acquainted with several notable facilities of the Legislative Chamber, including the museum reflecting the history of the Oliy Majlis, the parliamentary library, and the main assembly hall where laws are discussed and adopted.
The off-site educational lesson contributed to strengthening the theoretical knowledge acquired by students within the course “Comparative Politics” and enabled them to connect academic material with the practical functioning of political institutions in the Republic of Uzbekistan. Such events play an important role in developing analytical thinking, professional competencies, and civic engagement among future specialists.
