On April 2 of this year, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy organized a practical discussion session for second-year students of the Faculty of International Law dedicated to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Mediation”.

During the session, students were provided with detailed information on the main provisions of the Law, its legal foundations, principles, and the procedures for conducting mediation processes. In addition, participants discussed the role of mediation as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism, its significance during pre-trial and court proceedings, and the practical application of mediation mechanisms.

The discussion also focused on the advantages of resolving disputes peacefully, the role of mediation in strengthening mutual trust between parties, and current issues related to the wider implementation of mediation in legal practice. Students actively participated in the discussion, asked questions of interest, and gained practical knowledge about the importance of the mediation institution within the modern legal system.

The practical session was conducted by Solikha Abdurakhimova, lecturer at the Department of Civil Law and Private International Law.

This seminar contributes to the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 16 — “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions,” particularly Target 16.3, which aims to promote the rule of law and ensure equal access to justice for all.
