UWED Hosts Interactive Masterclass on Korean Saturi Dialects

On May 8, the Department of Oriental Languages held an interactive masterclass titled "The Many Faces of Korean: A Dive into Saturi (사투리) Dialects." The masterclass was led by Ilkhom Rojiboev, a representative of the Republic of Korea Education Center in Uzbekistan.
The masterclass was designed for students studying Korean and practicing translators. During the event, attendees explored the phenomenon of the interregional language barrier in South Korea and became acquainted with linguistic nuances that can create communication difficulties between residents of different provinces.
The interactive format allowed participants not only to learn theory but also to practice the specific intonations of provincial dialects. According to feedback, the event helped participants see modern Korean culture in a new light and delve deeper into the world of Korean dialectology.
