Round-Table Discussion on Integrating SDGs into English Language Teaching Held at UWED

On May 2, 2026, the Department of English at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy organized a round-table discussion on the topic of “Integrating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into English Language Teaching Practice”.
The event brought together faculty members who shared their practical experience in incorporating SDG-related themes into classroom teaching, extracurricular activities, and independent learning tasks.
During the presentations, participants highlighted a range of modern pedagogical approaches, including Project-Based Learning (PBL), role-play, simulations, and interdisciplinary teaching strategies. The discussion emphasized how integrating SDGs into English language education can enhance students’ critical thinking, communicative competence, and global awareness.
In addition, particular attention was given to adapting SDG content to the local context, encouraging students to engage with real-world challenges, and applying innovative teaching methods effectively. Participants noted that SDG integration not only enriches language learning but also contributes to the development of socially responsible and globally minded graduates.
The event concluded with an engaging discussion session, allowing participants to exchange ideas and reflect on their teaching practices. As a key outcome, the presented materials will be compiled into a methodological guide for further use and dissemination.
