On April 27 of the current year, first-year students of the Faculty of International Law of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, together with lecturers of the Department of International Law and Public Law Disciplines — Nigina Azizova and Aziza Khallakova — took part in a meeting of the Committee of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments, and Tourism.
During the meeting, information was presented by the Andijan regional hokimiyat on the current state of work being carried out to develop tourism in the region within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The meeting was attended by senators, chairpersons of standing commissions of local Kengashes, representatives of ministries and agencies, including leadership of the Tourism Committee and the Andijan regional hokimiyat, industry experts, representatives of mass media, as well as faculty members and students of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.
Invited experts and lecturers — Doctor of Sciences, Professor Surayyo Adilkhodjayeva, and PhD in Law, Associate Professor Surayyo Usmanova — also actively participated in the meeting and contributed their professional insights to the discussions. In particular, they put forward proposals aimed at further improving tourism policy, ensuring more effective use of the tourism potential of regions, expanding modern tourism services, and promoting sustainable tourism development in the interests of the socio-economic development of the regions. A representative of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan noted that their proposals would be taken into account and incorporated into the “Tourism Development Concept 2030”.
The meeting was moderated by Alisher Agzamkhodjayev, Chairman of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments, and Tourism.
The discussions focused on the development of existing tourism infrastructure in the Andijan region, attracting foreign investments to the sector, improving the quality of tourism services, and increasing the flow of both domestic and international tourists.
Special attention was also given to the introduction of systematic approaches aimed at the accelerated development of tourism, as well as to creating comfortable and modern conditions for tourists at cultural heritage sites and along tourist routes.
During the discussions, senators emphasized the need to intensify cooperation with foreign countries in the tourism sector and to actively promote the tourism potential of the Andijan region at international exhibitions, forums, and festivals.
In addition, participants put forward proposals and recommendations on forming a unified regional brand, introducing comprehensive tourism packages, effectively implementing investment projects, and expanding modern types of tourism services.
The participation of students from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in this meeting had significant educational and practical value. Students were able to closely familiarize themselves with the activities of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, mechanisms of parliamentary oversight, as well as practical discussions on sustainable development, international cooperation, foreign economic relations, and attracting foreign investments.
