    On April 15, 2026, a meeting was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) with representatives of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (Turkey).

    The MAKÜ delegation included Vice-Rector Professor Dr. Oğuz Gürsoy, Head of the International Office Professor Dr. Ömer Gürkan Kaya, and Advisor to the Rector Professor Dr. Dursun Köse.

    From UWED, the meeting was attended by First Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Akram Umarov.

    At the beginning of the meeting, Akram Umarov warmly welcomed the delegation and emphasized the importance of further strengthening cooperation between the universities. In his remarks, he presented an overview of UWED’s activities, its development strategy, mission, and priority areas, with particular attention to internationalization processes.

    In turn, the MAKÜ representatives introduced their university, highlighting their academic programs and international activities.

    Both sides expressed mutual interest in further expanding academic mobility programs for students, including semester exchange opportunities in the fields of Economics, Business, Finance, Public Administration, Commercial Law, Political Science, and International Relations. The importance of continuing summer schools and Turkish language courses for both students and faculty members was also emphasized.

    Special attention was given to the fact that internationalization is a key priority for both institutions. In this regard, UWED informed the delegation about the planned Central Asia Summer School and expressed its readiness to welcome MAKÜ students.

    UWED also proposed exploring opportunities for joint participation in Erasmus+ projects under the International Credit Mobility (KA171) framework as an effective tool for advancing academic mobility and institutional cooperation.

    The MAKÜ side proposed developing joint scientific publications, as well as cooperation in publishing articles in Turkish and international academic journals in the fields of social sciences, economics, politics, and public administration.

    Following the meeting, both sides confirmed their mutual interest in strengthening cooperation and agreed to continue working on joint initiatives aimed at expanding academic mobility, enhancing research collaboration, and fostering institutional partnerships.
