On March 17 of the current year, a mobile court hearing of the Mirzo-Ulugbek District Criminal Court of Tashkent city was conducted in the courtroom of the Legal Clinic of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. The hearing was attended by district criminal court judge B.B. Berdiyev, investigative judge S.R. Kho‘jamqulova, and assistant prosecutor of the Mirzo-Ulugbek district M.A. Abduvokhidov. The opening remarks were delivered by the First Vice-Rector of the UWED for Youth Affairs and Spiritual and Educational Work, O.A. Yusupdjanov, who outlined the significance and objectives of the event. The hearing was organized with the aim of enhancing legal awareness among young people and preventing crimes related to the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs.

The mobile court session, organized with the active participation of university faculty members and students, has significant practical importance in fostering legal awareness among youth and expanding their understanding of the functioning of judicial institutions. In particular, students were provided with a unique opportunity to directly observe the institutional structure of the judiciary, procedural stages of court proceedings, standards for evaluating evidence, and specific features of criminal case adjudication. This approach serves as an effective pedagogical tool for integrating theoretical knowledge with practice and contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 4 — “Quality Education” (SDG 4).

During the proceedings, the socio-legal nature of crimes related to the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances was comprehensively analyzed, including their root causes and negative consequences for society. Particular attention was paid to the factors contributing to the spread of such crimes among youth, as well as mechanisms for their prevention and the effectiveness of preventive measures. These aspects are closely linked to Sustainable Development Goal 3 — “Good Health and Well-being” (SDG 3), aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles and preventing harmful behaviors.

The presiding judge and the investigative judge provided systematic and well-grounded explanations regarding the application of criminal and administrative law norms. Special emphasis was placed on legal frameworks for combating drug-related offenses among youth, types of legal liability, and current issues in law enforcement practice. This contributes to strengthening legal awareness and promoting the rule of law, in line with Sustainable Development Goal 16 — “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions” (SDG 16).

Furthermore, such mobile court hearings serve as an effective mechanism for enhancing legal consciousness among youth, fostering respect for the law, and developing a culture of legality aimed at preventing offenses. Students’ direct participation in the court process not only reinforces their theoretical knowledge but also develops practical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to articulate and defend legal positions. This, in turn, strengthens cooperation between educational institutions and public authorities and contributes to the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 17 — “Partnerships for the Goals” (SDG 17).

Overall, this mobile court hearing represents a comprehensive educational and legal mechanism aimed at the holistic development of youth, strengthening their sense of responsibility towards society and the state, and reinforcing the principles of legality, justice, and rule of law. It can be regarded as an effective institutional practice contributing to the national implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.

At the conclusion of the event, First Vice-Rector O.A. Yusupdjanov, Head of the Legal Clinic Z. Ubaydullayev, and lecturer D. Soliyev expressed their sincere gratitude to the Mirzo-Ulugbek District Criminal Court for its practical support in organizing the mobile court hearing and emphasized the importance of continuing this cooperation in the future.
