On March 12, 2026, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Spain to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ricardo Martinez Vazquez, arrived at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. As part of the visit, a meeting was held with the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Rector of UWED Sodyq Safoev.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Kingdom of Spain. It was noted that Uzbek-Spanish cooperation is developing on the basis of mutual respect, trust and constructive dialogue, demonstrating sustainable positive dynamics.

Particular attention was paid to the development of political dialogue and inter-parliamentary interaction. The importance of further expanding contacts between the legislative bodies of the two countries was emphasized, including the activities of parliamentary friendship groups, the exchange of parliamentary delegations and the development of interaction between relevant committees.

In addition, issues of developing educational and scientific cooperation between universities of the two countries were considered, including the implementation of joint educational programs, academic exchanges of students and teachers, as well as joint scientific conferences and research projects.

The parties emphasized the importance of further strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties and confirmed mutual interest in developing the Uzbek-Spanish partnership in various areas of cooperation.
