From 3 to 7 January, University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) is hosting an open chess tournament that brings together chess enthusiasts from various mahallas across the capital. The tournament is jointly organised with the COUNTERGAMBIT club and the university’s sports club.

Participants include residents of mahallas affiliated with UWED as well as chess players from different districts of Tashkent. The initiative aims to promote healthy lifestyles and mind sports across age groups and to strengthen friendly ties within the community.

By encouraging well-being, inclusion, and university–community engagement, the event also aligns naturally with the broader SDG agenda.
