Representatives of the UWED participated in a ceremonial event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of “Saodat” magazine

On 15 December of the current year, a large-scale spiritual and educational event was held in the country to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of “Saodat” magazine. The magazine holds a special place in women’s educational and civic life and has long contributed to strengthening women’s legal awareness and social engagement. The event was attended by Professor E.S. Sultanova, Chair of the UWED Advisory Council on Women’s Issues and Doctor of Political Science, and Associate Professor M.N. Mirkhamidova, PhD in Law, a member of the Advisory Council on Women’s Issues at the Faculty of International Law.
The event highlighted Saodat’s century-long work and its significant contribution to improving women’s literacy in Uzbek society, protecting their rights and legitimate interests, and expanding women’s participation in socio-political life and public administration. Speakers emphasized that the socio-political, legal, ethical, and cultural materials published in the magazine play an important role in shaping women’s worldview.
Participants also discussed the role of mass media, especially traditional print publications, in addressing women’s issues in the context of globalization. They considered the place of print media in today’s information environment and its responsibility in educating the younger generation and encouraging young people’s civic engagement.
It was also noted that UWED’s participation reflects the university’s consistent efforts to support women and strengthen their role in science, education, and public life. This once again underscored the important contribution of higher education institutions to advancing gender equality and enabling women to realize their full potential.
In closing, sincere congratulations and best wishes for continued creative success were extended to the editorial board and creative team of Saodat magazine in their coverage of issues relevant to women’s lives through a balanced integration of national values and contemporary development trends.
