UWED held a scientific and practical round table dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination

On November 27 of this year (2025), a scientific and practical round table dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. The event was attended by university teachers, employees of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, representatives of other government bodies, experts, as well as students.
During the round table, the history of the development and adoption of the Convention, its global significance and place in national legislation were discussed. Particular attention was paid to the role of educational and cultural programs in combating racial discrimination, as well as the formation of the legal consciousness of the younger generation.
The participants exchanged views on the international and national significance of the Convention, mechanisms for its implementation and practical approaches to ensuring racial equality, including through educational initiatives. The discussion emphasized the importance of fostering tolerance and respect for human rights among young people.
Following the event, it was noted that research and academic cooperation remains an important tool for protecting human rights, strengthening interethnic harmony and social justice, as well as increasing the legal literacy of future specialists.
This initiative is in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, primarily SDG 16 “Peace, justice and strong institutions” (promoting human rights and non-discrimination), SDG 10 “Reducing inequalities” (strengthening the principles of equality and inclusion), as well as SDG 4 “Quality education” (developing a legal culture and youth education).
In addition, in honor of the 60th anniversary of the Convention, a competition of scientific articles was held among students. The winner was 3rd year student of UWED Anvarova Mokhlaroyim Khosiljon kizi, who was awarded as part of the event.
