On September 8 of this year, at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Rector of the UWED Sodyq Safoev held a meeting in the format of a videoconference with members of the delegation headed by the Chairman of the Canada-Uzbekistan Friendship Group in the House of Commons of Canada Ziyad Abuoltaif.

During the meeting, inter-parliamentary relations, issues of economic and investment cooperation, opportunities in the field of education and tourism between the two countries were discussed.

It was noted that bilateral contacts and visits have intensified in recent years. Along with this, the need for further increase in trade turnover, establishment of direct cooperation between regions and business circles, effective use of investment potential was noted.

Prospects for cooperation in the field of education were also discussed, the importance of creating joint programs and branches with leading universities in Canada, the development of educational and scientific contacts was noted.

During the meeting, special attention was also paid to the development of interregional cooperation. In particular, the emphasis was placed on establishing sister city relations between the cities and regions of the two countries, ensuring mutual exchange of experience and projects.
