The University of World Economy and Diplomacy continues to successfully implement academic mobility programs in cooperation with leading foreign universities. As part of this partnership, talented UWED students studied during the second spring semester of 2024-2025-academic year at the Saint Petersburg campus of the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE University). Upon completing an intensive academic and practical program, they returned to Uzbekistan.

The semester-long program included the study of core disciplines at a high academic level. Each student took courses aligned with their specialization. Subjects studied included Law, International Relations, Economics, and Management. Among them were Notarial Law, Tax Crimes, Introduction to Public International Law, International Economic Organizations, Strategic Management, and Global Economic Policy. The courses were highly interactive and focused on practical foreign language proficiency, making the learning process especially effective.

In addition to academic studies, UWED students undertook internships at the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Saint Petersburg. There, they gained firsthand experience of the work of diplomatic missions, the structure and specifics of consular services, and acquired invaluable practical experience in an international environment.

The program also involved active student participation in international and cultural events. Among the highlights was the celebration of Navruz, where UWED students proudly represented Uzbekistan by showcasing national traditions and customs. Participants also took part in celebrations such as Africa Day, East Asian Cultural Day, Maslenitsa, and other events that promoted intercultural exchange and broadened their worldview.

Particular recognition should be given to UWED students’ involvement in the HSE International Partners Week 2025, held in Saint Petersburg. During the event, they served as volunteers and coordinators, facilitating communication among university representatives from around the world. Their foreign language skills allowed them to act as interpreters — a contribution that was highly appreciated by the forum organizers.

HSE representatives praised the high level of preparation of UWED students, their active involvement in various activities, intercultural competence, and strong foreign language proficiency.

This exchange program marks another step in strengthening the partnership between UWED and HSE University. It has opened new horizons for the academic and professional development of our students. UWED intends to continue expanding such programs, creating new opportunities for its students on the global academic stage.
