Representatives of the University of Missouri visited UWED

On June 9, 2025. The delegation included faculty members, Mary Stegmaier, the Vice-Rector for International Programs, and students. During the visit, the representatives of the University of Missouri were given a detailed overview of UWED's activities, the educational process, research directions, and student life. The meeting was attended by A. Umarov, the First Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Sh. Arapov, the Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, U. Khasanov, the Editor-in-Chief of the journal “International Affairs”, as well as university students.
The visit commenced with a guided tour of the university campus, where international students explored the academic and scientific atmosphere of UWED, as well as its educational facilities and resources available for students. They were provided with in-depth information regarding daily life and the various opportunities accessible to those studying at the university.
At the beginning of the meeting, a thorough presentation was given, covering the university's initiatives, various faculties and departments, primary educational focuses, current projects, and prospects for international collaboration.
As part of the event, Professor U. Khasanov delivered a presentation on “Geopolitical Dynamics and Development Trends in Central Asia: Security, Cooperation, and Reforms”. In his talk, the professor discussed the geopolitical significance of the region, demographic changes, security issues following 2021, the Aral Sea and water security, cooperation within the framework of the SCO, as well as the strategic relations between Uzbekistan and the USA and new investment trends. At the end of the lecture, international students asked questions of interest to them. The event took place in a warm and sincere atmosphere, and both parties expressed great interest in strengthening further cooperation.
This visit served as a solid foundation for further strengthening academic ties between the two higher educational institutions, expanding cooperation in the field of scientific research, and developing joint projects.
