Professor Michael Brody from the American University in Washington Visits UWED

On May 6, 2025, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) hosted a guest lecture by Professor Michael Brody from the American University in Washington D.C., an expert in the field of ecology and environmental protection.
Professor Brody delivered a lecture on the topic “Global Climate Change and the Future of Water Resources in Central Asia”, where he discussed the key aspects of climate change and its impact on the region.
In the first part of his lecture, Professor Brody explained global climate change, covering the greenhouse effect and the changes in carbon dioxide concentrations from 1750 to 2023. He highlighted observed climate changes, including global warming and the reduction of glaciers in various mountainous regions, as well as the potential consequences of warming on water resources, including forecasts of changes in precipitation patterns. The professor emphasized that adaptation to these changes will require significant financial investments and discussed the potential impacts of global warming on future climate conditions.
The students showed great interest in the topic, actively engaging with the professor by asking insightful questions. The discussion covered issues such as the impact of climate change on water resources, potential adaptation measures, and the role of international cooperation in addressing environmental challenges. According to the students, the lecture was highly informative, relevant, and provided a deeper understanding of both global and regional challenges associated with climate change.
