On October 19, 2026, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) hosted the second meeting of the Uzbekistan–China Expert Council under the theme “Digital Partnership: Artificial Intelligence and the Next-Generation Data Economy.”

The event brought together representatives of leading research institutes, think tanks, and government institutions from Uzbekistan and China. The primary objective of the meeting was to discuss prospects for bilateral cooperation in digital transformation, artificial intelligence, innovative technologies, and the training of qualified professionals.

The Uzbekistan–China Expert Council was established in autumn 2024 by the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Institute of Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. The Council's first meeting was held in Beijing in March 2025 and focused on climate adaptation and sustainable development.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, leading think tanks, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, and other relevant institutions. The Chinese delegation included experts from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the China Institute of Foreign Affairs.

The Council's proceedings were organized into two thematic sessions. The first session focused on national strategies for artificial intelligence development, cybersecurity, data protection, and technological sovereignty.

During the second session, participants discussed practical areas of cooperation, including investment attraction, technology transfer, digital infrastructure development, and the training of specialists for the digital economy.

Particular attention was given to prospects for establishing joint technology parks, venture capital funds, and startup ecosystems, expanding academic and research exchanges, and introducing artificial intelligence technologies in public administration, the financial sector, agriculture, and industry.

The meeting also addressed priorities for future cooperation and preparations for the Uzbekistan–China Expert Council's Work Plan, aimed at strengthening collaboration between research and analytical institutions of the two countries.
