UWED Rector Meets with U.S. Department of State Delegation

Sodyq Safoev, First Deputy Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, met with a delegation led by Samir Paul Kapur, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the current state and future prospects of the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States. They noted that bilateral cooperation has reached a qualitatively new level in recent years and emphasized the importance of making effective use of existing opportunities to further strengthen mutually beneficial ties.
Samir Paul Kapur highly commended the large-scale economic reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan, as well as the country’s consistent policy aimed at strengthening good-neighborly relations, mutual trust, and regional cooperation in Central Asia.
The delegation was also briefed on the activities of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the role of Parliament in the country’s public and political life, and the ongoing efforts to strengthen the legal framework supporting the implementation of national reforms.
