On May 13, 2026, the Faculty of International Relations at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy organized a master class entitled “Making Sense of the World We Currently Live In.” The event aimed to analyze the complex geopolitical processes taking place in the modern international relations system, develop students’ analytical and critical thinking skills, and enhance their academic and practical understanding of global political trends.

The master class was conducted by Dr. Michael Rossi, professor at Webster University in Tashkent and a specialist in international politics and geopolitical studies. During the session, the professor delivered a detailed lecture on the transformation of the modern international system, changes in the global balance of political power, and emerging geopolitical trends.

In his presentation, Dr. Michael Rossi paid particular attention to the growing political and ideological tensions between “the West and the rest of the world,” the crisis of the liberal values-based “rules-based international order” established after 1945, and the gradual end of the “post-Cold War world” concept.

In addition, the meeting highlighted that multipolarity is no longer merely a theoretical or academic concept, but is increasingly becoming a geopolitical reality. Participants also discussed the gradual decline of the “Pax Americana” era, which had dominated the international political system for decades, as well as the diminishing status of Western liberal democracy as the “end of history” in the context of ongoing global transformations.

During the event, students and faculty members engaged in an open dialogue with the speaker and received answers to their questions regarding contemporary international security, geopolitical competition, regional conflicts, the role of international organizations, and changes in the global governance system.

At the conclusion of the event, participants emphasized that such academic and practical meetings play an important role in broadening students’ perspectives, strengthening their ability to analyze international developments, and deepening their understanding of contemporary geopolitical challenges.
