The University of World Economy and Diplomacy held cultural and educational events aimed at broadening students' knowledge of the traditions, art, and spiritual heritage of East Asian countries.

On this day, the university hosted the “Silk and Ink” festival, dedicated to the traditional and contemporary art of Japan. The event's program focused on two key areas of Japanese aesthetics: the elegance of the traditional kimono and the art of shodo calligraphy. Participants and guests had the opportunity to become more familiar with Japanese culture, try on traditional summer kimonos, and take part in a calligraphy masterclass. Under the guidance of a master, students wrote the character “Haru”, which translates to “spring”, immersing themselves in the atmosphere of harmony between spirit and brush that is characteristic of Japanese calligraphic art. The event was attended by honored guests, including representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

UWED also held a cultural and educational event titled “A Journey into Chinese Culture”, organized by Chinese language instructors from the Department of Eastern Languages. As part of the program, participants learned about the symbolism of Beijing Opera masks, the fundamentals of Chinese calligraphy, national board games, and the ancient techniques for making traditional Chinese lanterns. The interactive sessions allowed students not only to gain new knowledge but also to experience China's rich cultural heritage firsthand.

Both events were organized by the Department of Eastern Languages with the active participation of Japanese and Chinese language instructors. These events served as an important platform for strengthening intercultural dialogue, increasing student interest in studying Eastern languages, and fostering a deeper understanding of the traditions and values of Japan and China.

Such initiatives contribute to the development of the university's international, cultural, and educational environment, broaden students' horizons, and reinforce UWED's role as a center for training specialists who possess not only professional knowledge but also a high level of intercultural competence.
