Theoretical and Practical Issues of Inheritance Relations in Private International Law were Discussed at UWED

On April 29 of this year, a masterclass on the topic "Inheritance Relations in Private International Law" was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. The event was organized by Sherzodbek Masadikov, Head of the “Department of Civil Law and Private International Law disciplines”, and Kobiljon Nosirov, a lecturer of the same department, with the aim of studying conflict of laws issues of inheritance law in private international law, the inheritance rights of foreign citizens in Uzbekistan, and the legal regime of ownerless property.
The masterclass featured a lecture by Behruz Qurbonov, a specialist of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In his lecture, he analyzed conflict of laws rules governing inheritance relations in private international law, the inheritance rights of foreign citizens in Uzbekistan, as well as the legal regime of intestate and ownerless property, drawing on examples from judicial practice.
The event was actively attended by professors and teaching staff of the Faculty of International Law, as well as third-year students of the same faculty, who exchanged views on issues of interest to them.
This scientific-practical dialogue stands out for its alignment with the ideas of Sustainable Development Goal 16 – "Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions". It was particularly emphasized that legal fairness in international inheritance relations and the clarity of conflict of laws rules are among the key factors for attracting foreign investment to our country and reliably protecting the property rights of citizens.
At the conclusion of the event, conclusions were drawn about how closely SDG 16 (ensuring the rule of law and expanding access to justice) is intertwined with the principles of justice, equality and the protection of citizens' rights in inheritance relations in private international law.
Such masterclasses serve to shape modern legal thinking among future international lawyers and to ensure a strong integration of theory and practice.
