As part of the consistent integration of theoretical training and practice-oriented education at the Faculty of International Relations of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, within the course “Central Asian Studies” Head of the Center for Strategic Connectivity at the Institute for Advanced International Studies Nargiza Umarova delivered a lecture to future bachelor’s students.

Special attention was given to the dynamics of the development of transport connectivity. Students learned that in recent years there has been a significant increase in intra-regional trade and cargo transportation, which has been facilitated by the restoration of railway and road routes, as well as the launch of new international corridors. Projects such as the Trans-Afghan railway corridor, the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway, and the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, which provide access to open seas, were examined.

In conclusion, Nargiza Umarova presented a number of important insights, noting that despite considerable progress, the region continues to face challenges related to uneven infrastructure development, insufficient investment, as well as tariff and institutional barriers. In this regard, the need for coordinated policies aimed at harmonizing legislation and introducing modern digital solutions in the field of logistics becomes particularly important.

The lecture was conducted in a lively and engaging dialogue with students in the traditional “ustoz – shogird” format, which made it possible not only to deepen knowledge but also to develop a practical understanding of current processes in Central Asia.
