On March 19 of this year, a master class was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy to enhance students’ knowledge in the field of intellectual property law, as part of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The master class was organized by Head of the Department of Civil Law and International Private Law Sherzodbek Masadikov and a professor in the same department Imamova Dilfuza.

The event was attended by Mahmudov Mukhammadali, managing partner of the leading law firm Legalmax, which specializes in the registration, commercialization, and protection of intellectual property, as well as a lawyer and patent attorney. The master class was also attended by the faculty’s teaching staff and third-year students of the Faculty of International Law.

During the master class, Makhmudov Mukhammadali provided a detailed overview of the main types of intellectual property, including industrial property, copyright, and means of individualization, and explained their significance using practical examples and case studies. Particular attention was paid to international legal instruments regulating the field of intellectual property and their role in modern law enforcement practice.

The students showed great interest in the topics discussed, actively participated in the discussion, asked questions regarding the practical aspects of intellectual property law, and received detailed and substantive answers.

This master class contributes to the implementation of UN Sustainable Development Goal 16, “Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions,” particularly Target 16.3, which aims to ensure the rule of law and equal access to justice, as well as Goal 17 “Partnerships for the Goals,” particularly Target 17.6, which calls for the development of international cooperation in science, technology, and innovation and the expansion of access to them.

The master class made a significant contribution to the development of academic dialogue, the strengthening of the connection between theory and practice, and the improvement of the educational process.
