Student of the Year Competition

The Student of the Year Competition is a national competition held among full-time students of higher education institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The competition is aimed at identifying and recognizing active, talented and initiative-driven students who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership, creativity, social engagement and contribution to university life.

Who Can Apply

Students may participate in the competition if they:

  • are full-time students
  • are 2nd, 3rd or 4th-year students
  • have been studying continuously without academic leave
  • demonstrate achievements, activity and potential in the selected nomination
Restriction

Students who previously won 1st, 2nd or 3rd place at the republican stage of the competition may not participate again for three years.

Competition Nominations

Most Knowledgeable Student of the Year in Their Field of Study

This nomination considers the student's academic performance, participation and activity in the learning process, published articles and theses, as well as the content, relevance and significance of their academic work.

Most Active Student Promoter of the Year

This nomination considers the student's participation in university public life and public organizations, promotion activities, organizational skills, events organized by the student and achievements in this area.

Most Active Student Inventor-Innovator of the Year

This nomination considers scientific works, inventions, innovative ideas and rationalization proposals created by the student during the current year, as well as their novelty, relevance and scientific significance.

Most Active Student Athlete of the Year

This nomination considers the student's achievements and results in international and national sports competitions during the current year.

Most Active Talented Student of the Year

This nomination is intended for students with creative achievements in painting, graphics, design, applied arts and sculpture.

Most Active Creative Student of the Year

This nomination considers the student's creative works, articles, brochures, books, interests in music, cinema and theatre, as well as participation and achievements in spiritual, educational, scientific and creative activities.

Most Active Student Entrepreneur of the Year
(for female students)

This nomination is intended for female students who independently launched entrepreneurial activity during the current year. It considers their achievements and contribution to youth employment.

Competition Stages

School Round

The competition is held within each school. Schools review applications and select the most qualified candidates.

University Round

Winners of the faculty round compete at the university level. The Commission selects 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each nomination.

Recommendation for the Republican Stage

First-place winners in each nomination are recommended to participate in the republican stage of the competition.

Republican Stage

Recommended candidates from universities compete at the national level. Winners are determined in each nomination.

Required Documents

  • A recommendation / presentation letter of no more than two pages describing the participant's abilities, academic performance, leadership qualities, achievements, active participation in classes, exemplary qualities and public engagement
  • Documents confirming academic performance
  • Published scientific, methodological or creative works
  • Expert reviews of scientific or creative works, where applicable
  • Electronic versions of creative works, where applicable
  • Copies of certificates, diplomas and awards received at international and national events or competitions
  • Information on participation in grants, including the grant title, funding amount, form and level of participation
  • Information on participation in conferences
  • List and copies of scientific works

Materials and information included in the document package should relate to the current year.

Monetary incentives are allocated on the basis of the rector's order from the higher education institution's extra-budgetary funds.

Winners may also receive additional incentives from sponsoring organizations or relevant ministries and agencies.
