UWED Hosts Mass Dictation Under the Motto “Respect for the Mother Tongue Is Respect for the Nation!”

Language is the spiritual wealth of every nation and the primary feature that defines its identity. In today's world, as ties between cultures and languages expand globally, preserving the national language, ensuring its purity, and making effective use of its rich potential require special attention. A thorough command of one's native language is not only a sacred duty for each of us, but also a vital factor in the development of society and its spiritual growth. The Uzbek language is a priceless heritage from our ancestors, the pride of our people, and an important symbol of state independence.
Today, the use of the Uzbek language in official administration, diplomacy, economics, education, and science is steadily expanding. Consequently, the younger generation must thoroughly master the rich vocabulary, expressive nuances, and spelling rules of their native language, and apply them skillfully in their daily lives. This is especially important for future specialists who will represent and defend our country's interests on the international stage: for them, accurate writing and fluent speech are an integral part of professional excellence.
On October 14 of this year, to mark the 37th anniversary of the Uzbek language being granted the status of state language, the Department of Uzbek and Russian Languages held a mass dictation under the motto “Respect for the Mother Tongue Is Respect for the Nation!” at the Eco-Library of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.
The main objective of the event was to assess the spelling skills of university staff and students, test their knowledge, and improve their overall writing proficiency.
A total of 100 people participated in the dictation, including university staff and students from the Faculties of International Relations, International Law, and International Economics and Management. The text for the dictation was chosen to objectively evaluate the participants' knowledge of spelling rules, their ability to use punctuation correctly, and their overall level of written literacy.
This event played an important role in raising the prestige of the state language and fostering a deeper sense of love and responsibility for the mother tongue among staff and students.
