On January 17, 2026, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy hosted a solemn festive event entitled "Defense of the Motherland is a sacred duty", dedicated to the Day of Defenders of the Motherland, celebrated on January 14.

The event was opened by the First Vice-Rector for Youth Affairs and Spiritual and Educational Work of the UWED O. Yusupdzhanov, who cordially congratulated the teaching staff and students on the holiday. In his speech, he emphasized that modern youth is the main force protecting the future interests of Uzbekistan, and it is extremely important that they grow up educated, patriotic and dedicated to their work.

During the event, students presented informative theatrical performances dedicated to the defenders of the Motherland, which gave the holiday an inspiring atmosphere. The speeches of officers of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan aroused great interest and made a positive impression on the participants of the event.

At the end of the festive event, the winners of the UWED stage of the republican competition "The Most Active Student of the Year - 2025", "Expert in Reforms", as well as active students who have achieved high results in sports and spiritual and educational events, were worthily awarded by the university administration.

This event contributed to strengthening the sense of devotion to the Motherland, national pride and responsibility for the defense of the Fatherland in the minds of students.
