Biography Facts
Professor Alisher Faizullaev, D.Sc. in Political Science and Ph.D. in Psychology, is a scholar, author, teacher, diplomatic and negotiation skills trainer, and former Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United Kingdom (1999-2003), Benelux countries, the European Union, and NATO (1995-2003). (He was the inaugural Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the EU, NATO, Belgium, and Luxembourg, and the second Ambassador to the Netherlands and UK).
Currently he is a Professor at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in Tashkent, and Professor of Practice at the School of Diplomacy and International Relations, Seton Hall University, NJ, USA (Spring Semester 2025). Before he was a a Leif J. Sverdrup Global Teaching Fellow and Visiting Professor at Webster University in St. Louis (2024); Fulbright Scholar at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University in Medford, and the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy, School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University in Washington, DC (2011-2012), as well as a Visiting Scholar at McGill University in Montreal (2014), Cambridge University in Cambridge (2005) and Distinguished Visiting Scholar at Western Washington University in Bellingham (1992).
He published 10 scholarly, fiction and non-fiction books and numerous articles on social and behavioral sciences. His scholarly articles have appeared in “Review of International Studies,” “Diplomacy and Statecraft,” “Negotiation Journal,” “International Negotiation,” “PINPoints – Process of International Negotiation,” “The Hague Journal of Diplomacy,” “Journal of International Relations and Development,” “Brill Research Perspectives in Diplomacy and Foreign Policy” and other journals. His short stories have been published in Uzbekistan, the United States, Russia, and the Republic of Korea. His two last scholarly books “Symbolic Insult in Diplomacy: A Subtle Game of Diplomatic Slap” (2018) and “Diplomacy for Professionals and Everyone” (2022) were published by Brill in Leiden and Boston.
His research interests include diplomacy, negotiations, strategy, and game theory.
