Presidential Decree: New measures to support graduate employment On 14 February 2025, Presidential Decree No. <a href="https://lex.uz/uz/docs/7386929" target="_blank" rel="noopener">PQ-61 was signed</a> in Uzbekistan (https://lex.uz/uz/docs/7386960). The Decree aims to support university graduates in securing employment, facilitate their integration into the labor market, and strengthen cooperation with the private sector and commercial banks.
Key highlights:
<ul style="text-align: justify;">
<li>Through the &ldquo;Kelajakka qadam&rdquo; program, graduates receive support to develop and implement their own business ideas.</li>
<li>Open competitions will be held for graduates and junior students, offering job placement opportunities for the winners.</li>
<li>Individual professional training programs will be implemented in cooperation with employers.</li>
<li>&ldquo;O&lsquo;zmilliybank&rdquo; JSC and other authorized banks will provide graduates with preferential loans and financial support.</li>

Financial and professional opportunities for graduates Within the &ldquo;Kelajakka qadam&rdquo; program, final-year students and graduates (within 3 years after graduation) can benefit from the following opportunities:

📆 TalabaExpo-2025 On 23 May 2025, students of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) visited the career fair &ldquo;TalabaExpo-2025&rdquo;. The event brought together leading government institutions, private companies, international organizations, insurance and telecommunication companies, as well as other major employers.
During the fair, students:
<ul>
<li style="text-align: justify;">received detailed information about vacancies, internships, and training programs;</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">presented their CVs to HR specialists;</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">gained practical experience in job interviews;</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">strengthened skills necessary for successful employment.</li>
</ul>
This event plays an important role in bridging education and industry, increasing youth employment, and supporting young professionals in their transition to the labor market.

Our Services

Career guidance services include individual and group consultations aimed at supporting students in career planning, professional orientation, and preparation for employment. These services help students better understand their strengths, interests, and career goals, while providing practical tools for entering the labour market.

The support covers CV and cover letter preparation, interview skills development, and guidance on effective job search strategies. Students are also provided with up-to-date information on labour market trends, employer expectations, and in-demand skills, enabling them to make informed career decisions and enhance their employability.

The university organises skills development workshops and training sessions designed to enhance students' practical, applied, and transferable skills required in the modern labour market. These activities complement academic learning and help students develop competencies relevant to professional environments.

Workshops are conducted with the involvement of HR professionals, industry experts, representatives of leading companies, banks, public institutions, international organisations, and other external stakeholders. UWED also invites specialists from major employers, including representatives of the Big Four and other prominent organisations, to share professional insights, labour market expectations, and practical advice with students.

The sessions focus on areas such as communication skills, teamwork, problem-solving, leadership, digital competencies, job search preparation, and broader professional development. UWED organises, coordinates, and monitors internship placements as an essential component of students' academic and professional development. Internship opportunities are provided through a broad network of partner organisations, ensuring that students gain practical experience aligned with their field of study and labour market requirements.

The university collaborates with a wide range of partners, including government institutions, ministries, international organisations, banks, research institutes, think tanks, and leading academic institutions. Key partners include the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, as well as leading research centres and policy institutions.

A qualifying internship is a mandatory part of the academic programme for students in their 3rd and 4th years of study:
• for 3rd-year students – during the summer period;
• for 4th-year students – during the winter period.

The duration of the internship typically ranges from 5 to 10 weeks, depending on the programme and academic requirements.

UWED regularly organises structured career events designed to connect students and graduates with employers and to facilitate dialogue on labour market expectations, internship opportunities, and entry-level recruitment requirements. Over recent years, the format of these events has been progressively refined in response to stakeholder needs and feedback.

In 2023, the university held a university-wide Career Day in a job fair format, bringing together more than 75 public and private organisations. The event supported graduate employment and enabled direct interaction between students, graduates, and employers through employer booths, consultations, and interviews.

In 2024, UWED continued the university-wide Career Day / Job Fair format with participation of more than 50 leading organisations, including ministries, state agencies, banks, consulting firms, and private companies.

In 2025, UWED introduced a more targeted approach through faculty-based Career Days, allowing employers to engage directly with specific academic programmes and student profiles. In the same year, the university also launched [UWED Career Fair 2025](/news/1081) / Career Week, with a stronger focus on private-sector engagement, combining employer sessions, soft skills and career development activities, and a large-scale career fair with direct recruitment interaction.

These events provide students with direct exposure to professional environments, help them better understand current labour market expectations, and create opportunities for networking, career exploration, internship placement, and future employment. They also serve as an important platform for strengthening university-employer cooperation and expanding professional opportunities for students and graduates.

UWED supports student innovation, entrepreneurship, and project-based initiatives by creating opportunities for startup development, digital skills growth, and practical collaboration. Students are encouraged to turn ideas into projects, work in teams, strengthen entrepreneurial thinking, and engage with mentors and professionals from different sectors.

An important platform for this work is the [Digital Education and Startup Acceleration Center](/divisions/66), which was opened at UWED in 2022 as part of the university's broader efforts to strengthen digital transformation and student innovation. The centre operates as an educational and startup development unit under the university and contributes to the creation of a more dynamic and innovation-oriented campus environment.

Dedicated facilities have been allocated for the centre on campus, including a 60-seat interactive classroom, a meeting room for discussions and brainstorming, coworking space, and a specialised room for project presentations. These spaces provide students with a practical environment for collaboration, learning, and project development.

Through the centre, students can participate in consultations, competitions, hackathons, workshops, and incubation activities aimed at helping them refine ideas and develop viable startup projects. The centre also supports the development of practical skills in areas such as project design, business modelling, marketing, teamwork, communication, and presentation.

The Kelajakka Qadam Programme is a career-oriented educational initiative designed to support students in developing practical professional skills and preparing for successful entry into the labour market. UWED monitors graduate employment outcomes as part of its broader commitment to student development, employability, and institutional improvement. At UWED, basic medical support is available to help maintain the health and wellbeing of students, academic staff, and administrative staff. Medical assistance is provided through the university's Campus Medical Room, which serves as an on-campus point for primary healthcare support and consultation.

The service offers initial assistance and guidance on health-related concerns, as well as recommendations for further medical care where necessary. In addition, the university promotes health awareness and encourages a healthy lifestyle through preventive and informational activities for students and staff.
