A New Stage in Strengthening International Cooperation and Scientific Activity Based on UNESCO Principles at UWED

On July 3 of this year, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) hosted a meeting aimed at expanding international cooperation based on UNESCO principles and implementing new initiatives in the fields of education, scientific research, and culture. The event was attended by Dilnoza Kurbanova, Coordinator for Science and Education of the National Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan for UNESCO Affairs.
The meeting addressed prospects for international cooperation within the framework of UNESCO and its UNITWIN program, including discussions on strengthening partnerships with leading academic institutions such as Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University (France), the APCEIU Institute (Republic of Korea), the European Commission, the University of Bremen (Germany), the Chinese Academy of International Law, and others.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the following strategic directions were discussed:
ü launching networking mechanisms with foreign UNESCO Chairs;
ü transforming the UNESCO Club into an inter-university youth club;
ü translating UNESCO documents into the Uzbek language;
ü encouraging PhD/DSc-level research on UNESCO-related topics;
ü hosting the annual International UNESCO Chairs Summit at UWED.
ü In cooperation with the National Commission of Uzbekistan for UNESCO, the following additional initiatives were outlined:
ü organizing joint conferences and forums;
ü supporting student projects on UNESCO-related topics;
ü developing educational modules on international law, human rights, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals;
ü publishing academic manuals in the framework of international cooperation;
ü establishing an international journal titled “UNESCO and International Law”;
ü promoting UNESCO values widely through multimedia products;
ü conducting summer schools in partnership with the National Commission for UNESCO.
It was agreed to monitor the implementation of these projects and to prepare an annual report. The action plan will be updated yearly based on the strategic priorities of both UNESCO and the university.
