UWED Students Participate in Events Celebrating Indian Culture and Poetry

From October 9 to 14, 2026, the Lal Bahadur Shastri Centre for Indian Culture hosted a cultural event dedicated to classical Indian poetry. As part of the programme, a poetry recitation competition was organised, during which participants performed selected works of classical Indian poetry in Hindi.
The University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) was represented by third-year students from the Faculties of International Relations and International Law. The event brought together young scholars of Indian studies, including students from Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, participants in courses offered by the Indian Cultural Centre, and UWED students.
The contestants’ performances were highly appreciated by H.E. Ms. Smita Pant, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Uzbekistan. She emphasised that a strong command of Hindi among future diplomats lays a solid foundation for further strengthening bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and India. The winners of the competition were awarded honorary diplomas and valuable prizes.
The series of events celebrating Indian culture and traditions continued with a special programme entitled “Flavors of Kashmir.” Among the distinguished guests was Ritu Beri, an internationally renowned Indian fashion designer. The event offered participants an opportunity to explore the rich cultural heritage, distinctive traditions, and unique cultural identity of India's Kashmir region.
