    On 3 December this year, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy held a master class on International commercial transactions for first-year master's students studying “International business law” and “International commercial arbitration and dispute resolution”. The topic of the master class was “International Investment Agreements and Investment Transactions”.

    A specialist in International investment arbitration and international investment agreements was invited to conduct the master class, a master's student at Stanford Law School, President of the Stanford Law School Advanced Degree Programme, Co-Chair of the Stanford Association of International Arbitration Aitniyazova Khurliman.

    During the master class, Aitniyazova Khurliman covered in detail current issues related to the basic principles of international investment law, international investment agreements, international investment arbitration, framework international investment agreements, and shared her practical experience of participating in international investment disputes arising from concluded investment agreements. In turn, Professor of the Department of Civil Law and International Private Law at UWED Imamova Dilfuza touched upon issues related to the main Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their interconnection with the topic under discussion.

    The master's students showed great interest in the topics discussed, actively participated in the discussion, asked questions related to their dissertation research in the field of international investment agreements, and received substantive and reasoned answers.

    The master class directly contributes to SDG 16 “Promote peaceful and inclusive societies, ensure access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and participatory institutions at all levels”, in particular 16.3 aimed at “Promoting the rule of law and equal access to justice for all” and SDG 17 “Partnership for Sustainable Development”, in particular 17.6 aimed at “Strengthening international cooperation in the field of science, technology and innovation”. Also increasing access to them, as it promotes international co-operation, knowledge exchange and educational opportunities in the field of International commercial transactions.

    The master class made a significant contribution to the development of academic dialogue, the strengthening of scientific ties and the improvement of the educational process in the field of international investment agreements.
