On December 11 of this year, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy together with the National Center for Drug Control under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a major spiritual and educational event on the topic “Protection of the gene pool of the nation and youth health: priority areas of the fight against drug addiction”.

The event was attended by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Rector of the UWED Sodiq Safoev, Director of the National Drug Control Center under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ravshan Mamatov, Chief Narcologist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan Zarif Ashurov, who made reports on the comprehensive measures taken in our country to combat drug addiction, its prevention and promote a healthy lifestyle among young people.

In particular, on the basis of scientific data, the destructive impact of drugs on the health, mental state and social life of a person, threats to the stability of the family environment and society was explained in detail. Information was also provided on the reforms carried out in the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of combating drug addiction, state policy and priorities, effective mechanisms of cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the health care system. Thanks to the presentations of the speakers, rich in statistical data, real life examples and conclusions, the interest and awareness of students in the problem increased.

Based on scientific data, the speakers highlighted in detail the harmful effects of drugs on health, severe consequences for the psychology and social life of young people, as well as risks to the stability of the family environment and society.

During the event, the main directions of state policy in the field of combating drug addiction in Uzbekistan, prevention programs, modern approaches and the importance of interdepartmental cooperation were also discussed.

At the end of the event, an open dialogue was organized with students, an exchange of views took place on the prevention of drug addiction, the protection of young people from bad habits and strengthening the sense of responsibility in their minds.
