The University of World Economy and Diplomacy offers undergraduate programs in a variety of fields, including: International Relations,  Political Science, International Economics and Management Jurisprudence. UWED's bachelor's degree programs are designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in a globalized world. The programs are taught by a team of experienced faculty members, many of whom have held high-level positions in government and business. UWED also offers a variety of extracurricular activities and opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience in their field of study. One of the most popular bachelor's degree programs at UWED is the International Economics and Management program. This program provides students with a strong foundation in economics, international trade, and finance. Students also learn about the political and legal environment of international business. Another popular bachelor's degree program at UWED is the International Relations program. The University of World Economy and Diplomacy was established on September 23, 1992. It is functioning under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

It is a higher educational institution that provides training, retraining and advanced training for specialists and academic staff as well as conducts high-level fundamental and applied research in the following areas:

An initiative to increase the interest of female students in higher education was implemented in Yangi Olmachi mahalla

On June 2, 2025, a meeting was organized in the Yangi Olmachi Mirzo mahalla of Ulugbek district as part of the execution of instructions outlined in Protocol No 21 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan. During the event, special attention was paid to young people, especially female students, to stimulate their interest in higher education, assist in an informed choice of profession and motivation to achieve life goals. The meeting was attended by representatives of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, activists of the Youth Union, an inspector for the prevention of offenses, activists of the mahalla, as well as representatives of educational institutions. During the event, the participants told young people in detail about the rules for admission to universities, the competitive basis of enrollment, effective preparation for test exams, modern professions and specialties. Separate conversations were held with the girls, their interests and dreams were listened to, and individual advice was given. The importance of higher education and the socio-economic benefits of education for women were also discussed. It was emphasized that women with higher education can actively participate in society and achieve success in both family and professional life. In addition, the crime prevention inspector provided young people with legal knowledge, explained the importance of avoiding crime and offenses, and also spoke about the formation of a healthy lifestyle. The main goal of the event was to increase the interest of the younger generation, especially girls, in higher education, motivate them to achieve life goals and strive to gain deep knowledge.

UWED Student Awarded a Prize Named the Peter Derlider Prize

On May 29 of this year, a ceremony was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) to present the Peter Derlider Prize, established by Laurea Germania, a company based in Hamburg, Germany. This award is presented annually to the most gifted student among those enrolled at the institutions attended by the company’s founder, Farid Zakirov, who possesses exceptional potential, demonstrates strong ambition, and stands out through remarkable achievements on the international stage. In 2025, the prize was awarded to Bokhodir Dadaev, a fourth-year student of the Faculty of International Law at UWED. He demonstrated a high level of professionalism and active participation in international competitions related to legal analysis. The award was presented personally by the founder and the director of Laurea Germania, Mr. Sören A. Croll. During the event, Bokhodir Dadaev and his team delivered a presentation about their participation in the international law competition “Vis East Moot.” The presentation detailed their preparation process, the challenges they encountered during international rounds, the well-founded debates before arbitrators, and the outcomes achieved. The “Vis East Moot” is a prestigious platform for testing students’ knowledge in international arbitration, commercial law, and procedural matters. Bokhodir Dadaev and his team represented not only their university but also their country with distinction, demonstrating a high level of competitiveness on the global stage. Beyond the award ceremony, the event served as a platform for discussing opportunities for bilateral cooperation. Representatives of Laurea Germania met with UWED leadership to explore prospects for practical experience exchange and support for talented students. The initiative was warmly received, and both parties expressed readiness to continue collaboration. The prize was established on the initiative of Laurea Germania’s founder and UWED alumnus Farid Zakirov as part of the university’s ongoing engagement with its graduates and aims to encourage students and foster the development of their professional legal competencies.

The First Vice-Rector of UWED Participated in the Prestigious Asian Leadership Conference in Korea

From May 19 to 22, 2025, the First Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED), Akram Umarov, visited the Republic of Korea (Seoul) to participate in the Asian Leadership Conference. During the Conference, Akram Umarov spoke at a panel session on the topic: “Central Asia at the Crossroads: Geopolitics, Connectivity, and Regional Dynamics.” The Conference brought together more than 240 speakers, experts, and politicians from the USA, China, Europe, Australia, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and several other countries. Prominent politicians and scholars such as Rishi Sunak, Tony Abbott, Michael Pompeo, and James Robinson took part in the event. The opening ceremony was attended by the Acting President of Korea, Choi Sang Mok. For the first time in the 20-year history of the conference, a panel dedicated to Central Asia was organized, where Akram Umarov spoke about Uzbekistan’s initiatives to strengthen regional cooperation, connectivity, and development trends in the region. As part of the business trip to the Republic of Korea, a number of meetings were also held with partner organizations in the country. A meeting was held with the Vice President for Academic Affairs of Korea University, Myoung-Jin Lee, and the Head of the Office of International Cooperation, William Stewart, where opportunities for academic mobility programs and the involvement of Korea University experts in UWED’s educational process were discussed. The First Vice-Rector of UWED also held a meeting with representatives of the Sejong Institute, during which possibilities for cooperation between the Sejong Institute and UWED’s Institute for Advanced International Studies (IAIS) were discussed. During a meeting with the Vice President of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Kim Min Jeong, and the Dean for International Cooperation, Yang Jaewan, the Korean side was informed of UWED’s interest in expanding its student exchange program. As part of the visit to the “Korea Foundation”, negotiations were held with the Executive Vice President of the Foundation, Rhee Jong Kook, during which the possibility of a joint research project involving IAIS and leading Korean research universities was proposed.
