On May 19, 2025, a meeting was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) with Claudia Lisboa, Programme Officer at the Institutional Relations, Partnerships and Advocacy Department of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism).

UWED was represented at the meeting by Muzaffar Jalolov, Vice-Rector for Digital Transformation and Economy.

During the discussions, both parties reviewed the next practical steps for students to undertake internships at this international organization within the framework of the existing agreement between UWED and UN Tourism. In particular, they exchanged views on organizing the selection process, the duration and timing of internships, and the necessary preparation for students. Both sides expressed their intention to continue cooperation, deepen partnership relations, and create new opportunities for students.

As part of the visit, Claudia Lisboa delivered an open lecture for university students on the topic “Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through Tourism – Toolkit of Indicators for Projects (TIPs).”

The lecturer provided information about the Sustainable Development Goals and tasks related to the tourism sector, as well as the normative capacity of the United Nations in advancing human well-being, planetary health, prosperity, and peace. She also presented the TIPs toolkit, SDG goals connected to tourism, and the corresponding indicators. Furthermore, practical methods for selecting, categorizing, and monitoring project indicators were explained. At the end of the lecture, students were divided into small groups and given practical assignments.

On May 22, 2025, the students presented their presentations based on the assigned tasks in the presence of Claudia Lisboa. This allowed them not only to consolidate their theoretical knowledge but also to apply it in practice. After the presentations, Claudia Lisboa shared her individual feedback and recommendations with each group, highly appreciating the students’ participation. This transformed the meeting into not only a knowledge exchange but also an active learning process.
