A new partnership has been established between the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) and the U.S.-based organization Princeton in Asia (PiA) for the 2025–2026 academic year. As part of this collaboration, two American fellows, Sergio Castagnoli and Julia Davies, have commenced their work at UWED. They have been assigned to the Office of Transformation and Strategic Development and the Department of International Relations.

The First Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, A. Umarov, warmly welcomed the fellows. During the meeting, the fellows were provided with detailed information about UWED’s core activities, its international partnerships, and overall university life. Additionally, an introductory session was organized for all the foreign specialists, allowing them to become better acquainted with UWED’s academic environment and team.

At UWED, Sergio Castagnoli and Julia Davies will not only pursue their professional goals but will also contribute to strengthening intercultural dialogue, mutual understanding, and trust. Their presence will further enrich the university’s community, offering students new knowledge, perspectives, and international experience.

For reference: The Princeton in Asia (PiA) program is one of the oldest and most prestigious international initiatives in the field of education and cultural exchange. Established in 1898 at Princeton University, the program is dedicated to deepening mutual understanding between countries in Asia and the United States. Today, PiA collaborates with over 400 partner organizations across more than 30 countries, including NGOs, universities, media institutions, and both international and governmental organizations.

In 2025, PiA fellows are beginning their work in Uzbekistan for the first time, at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. The UWED community warmly welcomes Sergio Castagnoli and Julia Davies and wishes them great success in this new chapter of their professional journey.
