    On March 27 of this year, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sodyq Safoev held a meeting with a delegation of the US Congress led by Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee Mike Rogers.

    A wide range of Uzbek-American cooperation was discussed, in particular, issues of strengthening inter-parliamentary ties, developing cooperation in the field of trade, economic and labor relations.

    During the dialogue, detailed information is also provided on the reforms ongoing in Uzbekistan to ensure human rights and freedoms, the rule of law, transparency of government, the further development and strengthening of civil society institutions, the protection of private property and foreign investors, and economic liberalization.

    During the conversation, the role and effectiveness of activities to expand relations between the parliaments of the two countries within the framework of the friendship group “Caucus on Uzbekistan” created in the House of Representatives of the US Congress was noted.

    Issues of economic cooperation also came into focus. It was noted that the American-Uzbek Chamber of Commerce, which includes 38 leading companies, makes a significant contribution to strengthening the bilateral strategic partnership. An exchange of views took place on expanding the investment partnership and strengthening ties between the business communities of the two countries.

    Along with this, an agreement was reached to consistently continue cooperation in the field of labor relations, create decent working conditions, and conduct ongoing consultations on issues such as the implementation of international standards in the world of labor.

    At the end of the dialogue, the parties expressed their readiness to further expand and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
