Russian language
Russian language – is the language which is learnt in all continents as one of the generally recognised world languages. It is one of the official and working language of the UN, international organisations and forums. The Russian language is used as the means of international communication in the Republic of Uzbekistan .
Taking into account the abovementioned factors, by the order of the Head of the University of UWED dated 10 May 2005 , within the Centre of linguistic education “The department of Russian Language” was founded. The experienced specialists possessing the high scientific and training-methodical potential carry out their educational activity at this department: candidate of historical sciences, assistant professor Rakhmatullayeva G.M., candidate of philosophical sciences, assistant professor Suvanova E.H., candidate of philosophical sciences, assistant professor Sanayeva T.Ya., assistant professor Yuldasheva D.Yu., candidate of philosophical sciences, Sharipova N.E., senior teachers Tadjikhojayeva L.I., Khusnitdinova T.N. The head of the department is candidate of philosophical sciences, acting as assistant professor – Abdullayeva A.A.
The Russian language at UWED as non-mother tongue is taught to students who finished the general not specialized school, academic lyceums and colleges in official language. The training is conducted on the base of original “Exemplary educational programme on Russian language”, in which it is foreseen two-year teaching (1-2 and 3-4 semesters) of the language in the volume of 316 hours, out of which 144 hours are taught in the first year, 72 hours in the second year. The objective is – training the practical language, oriented to deepening the knowledge, improving the skills of oral and written speech of future specialist for foreign relations – political scientist, economist, lawyers.
Teachers of the department work within the framework of the topic of scientific-research and educational-methodical work of the department: “The professionally-oriented training of Russian language on the basis of contemporary pedagogic technologies”. At this department, on the bases of grammatical and verbal content of “Exemplary educational programme on Russian language” the textbooks such as “Russian language: Practical course” for the first year students (2000, 2006), “Textbook on Russian language” for the second year students of UWED (2007), “Textbook for lawyers”, “Textbook for speech development” (in accordance with the materials of the work of I.A.Karimov “Uzbekistan on the threshold of XXI century…”) and many other manuals are created; the criteria for evaluation the students' knowledge is worked out, the works of Running control, Intermediate control and Final Control during the year. The teachers of the department constantly work on improving their pedagogic technique. So, within the last three years they have had advanced training in the republic (Uzbekistan State University of Foreign Languages, Management Institute under UWED) and abroad (Moscow, Omsk); they have participated at 15 scientific-practical conferences, published 47 scientific articles, 38 thesis papers, 54 publicistic articles concerning the education, science, culture and training.
The Russian language at UWED is one of the favorite languages, as teachers try to use in their activity non-traditional methods of teaching (“round-tables”, disputes, discussions, watching and discussion of the movies and etc.). The elective courses are arranged for the whole contingent of the first year students, additional 4 groups for teaching the Russian language are organised for the students of the first and the second year who possess the language poorly at extra-curricular time. At creative club “Linguist” the skills of public speech are systematically increased, the secrets of journalism mastership are taught to 25 students from different faculties. Their articles are published in republican press. Each year on May 10 by joint forces of teachers and students it is held “The day of Russian language and culture”, which is traditionally celebrated at university scales. Besides students, teachers and staff of UWED, the representatives of Embassy of Russian Federation, as well as of other organisations and higher educational institutions of the republic attend this event.
