Diplomatic Courses
The Diplomatic Courses were established in September, 1999 with an objective of upgrading the quality of personnel of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations and other nationwide agencies and organizations dealing with foreign relations of Uzbekistan through advanced training.
Since the inception, over 100 trainees graduated from the Diplomatic Courses.
Main areas in training are those that are required to protect and advance national interests of Uzbekistan abroad, namely:
- Foreign Policy Priorities of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
- History of Diplomacy;
- Basis of Diplomacy;
- Data and Analytical Work, Preparation of Diplomatic Documents;
- Consular Issues;
- Technique of Negotiations;
- Combat against International Terrorism and Religious Extremism;
- Improvement of Practical Skills in Usage of Foreign Languages;
- Theory and Practice of Simultaneous Translation;
- Other Aspects of Diplomatic Service as well as respective training in international law and economy.
Educational cycle of the Courses is conducted according to the curriculum designed for two months of 410 hours long total with a temporary academic leave.
Senior staff of the Courses in collaboration with the UWED works on improvement of organizational structure, curricula, academic, methodological as well as logistics basis of the training process.
Close cooperation is established with the distinguished foreign diplomatic institutions such as the Diplomatic Academy of Russian Foreign Ministry, Moscow State Institute of Foreign Relations (MGIMO), Institute of Diplomatic Service of India, Vilnius Institute of Foreign Relations and Political Science and others.
The quality of learning is ensured by the lectures delivered to the trainees based on first-hand information emanating from practical expertise.
A qualitatively new level of teaching of the course material is ensured by the composition of lecturers selected among senior officers of Uzbek Foreign Ministry, the UWED faculty members, experts of other branches of the Government - Office of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Parliament, Cabinet of Ministers, as well as international organizations and leading scholars, experts from advanced diplomatic institutions abroad.
Advanced methods like interviews, discussions, meetings, round tables are widely practiced that provide practical direction to teaching and the participants can master the offered course load most completely.
Upon completion of the course program and pass of exam participants are awarded with Certificates.
The Diplomatic Courses are open on commercial basis for the representatives of all interested Ministries and Agencies, state and private companies running their activity in the fields of foreign relations and international cooperation.
